Navalia Pulse

Navalia Pulse is an annual exhibit of thought-provoking opinions on technology and its critical role in organizations' future

It chronicles the collective experience of our technologists over decades in technology consulting. The 2025 edition will be segmented into three sections:

Platforms and Architecture

Digital Experiences & Frameworks

Organizational Modalities

Each of the sections delves into the nuances of building resilient, adaptive, and flexible systems and organizations.

What you won't see is:

A technology radar where we describe what companies should stop doing or start doing in terms of technologies, frameworks, techniques, etc. There are other organizations that do that well and we don't need to duplicate their good work!

A how-to guide for implementing technology or business strategies.

An echo chamber of ideas where readers feel immediately on board with what we're writing. We want readers to feel challenged when they read it. We want them to validate and revalidate their assumptions.

A marketing report of buzzwords like "democratization," "synergies", and "frictionless".

The 2025 Navalia Pulse is here

This Pulse edition offers a set of ideas and bets that we believe are necessary for enduring long-term success in the midst of rapid change and volatility. In Volume 1, we focused on building infrastructure, data platforms and data mesh.

What's Inside

  • Part I: Foundations where we compare and contrast a foundational and evolutionary approach to building platforms. We have seen both techniques being built and recommend evolving platforms.
  • Part II: Data Platforms where we challenge assumptions and lay out the mindset shift from centralized warehouses and tool kits to domain-driven data platforms with communication that needs structure, boundaries, contracts and a systems thinking mindset.
  • Part III: Our journey building Data Products where we dive into practical, and field-tested approaches to starting a journey towards a data mesh, one data product at a time.
